Spring is here and you seriously need to upgrade your makeup routine! With the season change, our skin has different needs and our face deserves a fresh makeover. With some good old trends like red lipstick making a comeback, Spring 2018 runways had some other good new ones too including major highlighting, no contouring and a ton of sparkle. I’ve made the ultimate guide on how to transition your makeup game from winter to spring.

#1. Glittery Black Eyeliner

It might sound like a bit been-there, done-that, but this spring trend has a little twist to it by making the eyeliner thick and round at the edges. Simply line your eyes with a black liner and then add a glitter black eyeshadow over it.

Product Recommendation: RMS Beauty Vintage Cake Liner – £22.50 / Laura Mercier Black Karat Baked Eyeshadow – £21

#2. Graphic White Liner

Graphic liner has been done before too. But for Spring 2018, the MUAs opted for a white colour and focused on the lower lash line instead of the upper one.

Product Recommendation: NARS Santa Monica Blvd Larger Than Life Eyeliner – £19.50

#3. Peachy Glow

Spring is all about looking fresh and glowy after the dull, dry winter months and this trends helps you do just that. Swipe a peach liquid blush over your cheeks, eyes and lips for a healthy, dewy look that’s au natural yet glamorous in its own way.

Product Recommendation: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette – £59 / Sisley Peach 3 Phyto Lip Twist – £32.50

#4. Shades of Gold

While makeup brands are hopping on the holographic trend left, right and centre, MUAs are still focusing on the good old gold highlighter for the runway looks. A bold swipe over the top of cheekbones, on the brow bone and the tip of your nose and you are en vogue in no time at all.

Product Recommendation: Hourglass Gold Flash Vanish Flash Highlighting Stick – £38

#5. The After-Party Look

The idea behind the look was to create a look that reflected the remains of the makeup after a party. In makeup terms, a lip stain and several coats of mascara.

Product Recommendation: RMS Beauty Lip2Cheek – £34 / Laura Mercier Long Lash Mascara – £21

#6. Glimmering Gold

Subtle yet sexy, the glimmering gold look screams glamour. It’s super simple to achieve too – all you need to do is line the outer edges of the upper lash line with gold glitter.

Product Recommendation: NARS Altiplano Kohliner – £19.50

#7. Colour Pop

If you like to put in minimal efforts in your makeup, try the trend that’s been seen all over the runways. Keep your entire makeup simple and just focus on either your lips or your eyes with a bright pop of colour.

Product Recommendation: Kevyn Aucoin Electropop PRO Eyeshadow Palette – £42

#8. Spa Skin

Coined by the fashionista Victoria Beckham, the spa skin trend might look like a no-makeup look – baring just fresh, dewy skin – but it’s much more than that. Go all in with a nude lipstick, concealer, brow products and a lot of highlighter – or just focus on extremely good skincare and flaunt it as it is.

Product Recommendation: Lipstick Queen Invisible Lip Liner – £18 / Hourglass Confession Ultra Slim High Intensity Refillable Lipstick – £28 / NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer – £24 / Surratt Expressioniste Brow Pencil Rechargeable Holder & Refill – £24 / Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops – £34 / Kiehl’s Skincare

#9. Mermaid Vibes

A gorgeous look for the spring season – do up your eyes with beautiful shades of aqua. To make it look more intense, line the lower lash line with a turquoise shade.

Product Recommendation: By Terry Game Lighter Palette Fun’tasia – £38

Game Lighter Palette Fun’tasia, FUN’TASIA, large

#10. Glossy Lips

After a year of matte liquid lipsticks followed by all of those in metallic shades, we are back to the basics – lip stains and lip glosses. Pair a cherry coloured lip stain with a transparent lip gloss and you are rocking the most effortless trend out there.

Product Recommendation: Eve Lom Kiss Mix Tints – £18 / Becca Liptuitive Glow Gloss – £20

#11. Lilac Beauty

The perfect shade for spring, fill your lids with a bold lilac shade and wing it out to give it an edge.

Product Recommendation: Cover FX Amethyst Shimmer Veil – £22

#12. Ombre Lips

Yup, they are back and how so! You might feel like you just moved on from the trend but runways suggest otherwise. Ombre lip is most definitely back this year.

Product Recommendation: NARS Precision Lip Liner – £18 / NARS Lipstick – £22

#13. Unusual Eyeliner

That’s the only I can think of defining some of the looks at runways this year. If you are up for it, all you’ve got to do is use your trusty old black liner and line your eyes any other way but the usual.

Product Recommendation: EYEKO Black Magic Liquid Eyeliner – £16

#14. Classic Red Lips

Is there ever a trend more gorgeous than red lips? A statement as always, a part of every season, pair red lips with red nails and you couldn’t be more runway ready.

Product Recommendation: Kevyn Aucoin Forever The Matt Lip Colour – £27

#15. Cat Eye 2.0

It’s your routine cat eye but double the fun. Double up your boring black cat eye with another liner for a runway worthy look.

Product Recommendation: Delilah Gel Line – £22

#16. Draped Statement Blush

Remember the days of sharp, chiselled cheekbones? Well, those are long gone. With contouring gone absolutely out of sight, draping is fast taking over the runways. MUAs now prefer the art of draping with the blush swirled along the top of the cheekbones, all the way up to the lids, brow bones and temples.

Product Recommendation: NARS Blush – £24
