Flying in to a shopping centre near you – meet Santa’s reindeer at Regent Court this Christmas

Everyone knows that reindeer have a big job to do helping Santa to deliver all his presents but this year two of his helpers will be paying Regent Court a special visit.

Anders and Oslo the reindeer will be flying in to Regent Court Shopping Centre at midday on Saturday 17^th December with plenty of opportunity for kids and adults alike to come and meet them, and maybe even get a photo or two.

Centre Manager Adam Talbot said: “All the shops and restaurants here at Regent Court are really getting into the festive spirit so we’re delighted to be playing host to the reindeer as they prepare for their Christmas Eve adventures.  

“And there’ll really be something for everyone with a traditional brass band to get everyone’s toes tapping, some delicious food and drink at one of our many cafés and restaurants, and of course, the opportunity to pick up some special Christmas presents at one of our fantastic shops.”

Some fun facts about reindeer. Did you know that…?

1. Reindeer can swim!
2. They enjoy carrots or apples, especially on Christmas Eve
3. They have hollow hair strands to hold in heat
4. Reindeer have big personalities, individual to each reindeer
5. They are native to Sweden, Norway, Finland and Russia
6. Reindeer make a clicking noise when they walk - some believe this is to keep track of their herd during snow storms
7. They all have antlers, including the females
8. They have darker coats in the summer and lighter in the winter for camouflage
9. They only have one calf each year, never twins
10. Reindeer have large feet - this enables them to break ice on the lakes so they can drink and dig down deep in the snow for food.

There will also be live music around the Regent Court Christmas tree every Saturday afternoon in December and on Thursday 22^nd December when the stores and restaurants will be open for a special late night shopping evening.
